Cascadia Windows & Doors is proud to announce that our work on the Pacific Promenade Building Envelope Rehabilitation project in Vancouver has been named the winner of the Best Retrofit Project Award in Energy Manager Canada’s 2025 EM Honours program. The award recognizes retrofit projects across Canada that advance proactive energy management, energy efficiency, and decarbonization through measurable, long-term improvements.
Pacific Promenade is an 18-storey, 163-unit residential tower that underwent a deep envelope renewal while remaining fully occupied. The project team replaced the aging envelope with high-performance fenestration and exterior systems that significantly improve energy efficiency, durability, and occupant comfort. By upgrading rather than rebuilding, the project avoided the embodied carbon of new construction and demonstrated a scalable path forward for Canada’s aging high-rise housing stock.
Cascadia supplied Universal Series™ fiberglass-framed double-glazed windows, along with new sliding and swing doors, to deliver a consistent high-performance fenestration package across the tower. The project also incorporated Cascadia Clips® to reduce thermal bridging in the exterior insulation assembly and support long-term envelope performance.
The EM Honours jury noted that the project is a model for how existing buildings can be transformed without compromising appearance, operations, or timelines. Its success reflects close collaboration between design teams, engineers, contractors, and manufacturers committed to delivering long-term value for residents and owners.
“We’re honoured to be recognized for the Pacific Promenade retrofit,” said Mike Battistel, President of Cascadia Windows & Doors. “This project demonstrates what’s possible when we take a performance-first approach to existing buildings. By upgrading the envelope with durable, high-efficiency fenestration, we reduced energy use and improved comfort while extending the building’s service life. Canada has a vast stock of aging buildings that will require renewal over the coming years, and Pacific Promenade shows that deep retrofits can be both practical and impactful.”
Cascadia congratulates the project team—including project partners DuraSeal and Sense Engineering—and all 2025 EM Honours recipients. The recognition underscores the growing importance of retrofit strategies that strengthen energy performance and advance decarbonization across Canada’s built environment.
