Universal Series™ Window Wall Wins 2024 Architizer A+ Product Award

2024.06.10

Cascadia Windows & Doors recently won a 2024 Architizer A+ Product Award for the Universal Series™ Window Wall—the world’s first fiberglass window wall product.

“We are very proud to receive this prestigious award from Architizer,” says Mike Battistel, president of Cascadia Windows & Doors. “When we first launched the Universal Series™ Window Wall in 2019, we knew its performance and aesthetic would set it apart from traditional fenestration products. This latest recognition continues to show the AEC industry is embracing high-performance products and design.”

The Architizer A+Product Award honors the elements behind the globe’s most inspiring contemporary buildings—as chosen by the architects and design professionals that specify them every day. From façades, flooring and furniture to lighting, glazing and tile, the annual award recognizes products across more than 39 categories, evaluated on their aesthetic, performance, and impact.

Designed and manufactured in North America, the Universal Series™ Window Wall is a full-facade glazing system, featuring an innovative, commercial-grade fiberglass frame boasting up to 250% improved thermal performance compared to traditional aluminum windows, as well as 58% recycled material. This patented, high-performance design allows architects to dramatically improve the overall thermal performance of commercial buildings, without sacrificing glazing area.

“Our Universal Series™ products provide architects and specifiers the best of both worlds,” explains Battistel. “They can design exciting, engaging buildings that people want to live and work in, all while delivering better thermal performance. They don’t have to choose between the two.”

Custom-built to meet project requirements, individual units of the Universal Series™ Window Wall are installed on the structural slab of each floor in a commercial building. The window wall then extends to the underside of subsequent floors, secured to the structure with Cascadia’s custom aluminum strap anchors.

Depending on the configurations, units can be easily installed from the interior of the building by a small installation team, and then coupled together to create a continuous glazing façade. For vision areas, both double and triple glazing are available, delivering thermal performance between R-4.1 and R-7.7, with additional Passive House Certified options available. The system’s slab bypass achieves R-8.1, with opaque areas reaching between R-16.2 and R-19.1. Opaque areas can also be finished with glass, metal, or specialty cladding materials.

“Awards like the A+ Product Award are a testament to the skill and dedication of our product design, project and manufacturing teams,” says Battistel. “I’m very proud of this incredible team, as well as excited about the new products currently in development.”
