Every so often employees at Cascadia get an opportunity to give back to the building committee. The BOABC (Building Officials Association of BC) Education Conference is a perfect example of that, where Mike Battistel, VP Operations of Cascadia Windows, got to give a presentation on something he's become extremely versed in: NAFS.
When it came to this opportunity to present, Mike was particularly excited because of the importance of this new standard and the relative little knowledge BC's building community has of it. Up until now, NAFS has been a source of confusion due to the lack of training and difficult manual calculations required.
Mike took BOABC through exercises of the Canadian Supplement to Determine Performance Grade and Water Test Pressure, and afterwards revealed a much easier solution - the NAFS Calculator Tool. The tool was developed over the past few months by Mike and his friend Rob Baker, the Assistant Chief Inspector at the Township of Langley, and it allows users to calculate performance grade and water test pressure results within seconds.
Whether you're just starting to seek information on NAFS, or have been implementing calculations on recent projects, we highly recommend utilizing this tool. Hopefully it saves you as much time as it saves us!
