Skeetchestn has been busy this summer. The Indian Reserve, located near Savona, BC, was part of a groundbreaking twelve-week House Inspection program - the first of its kind in Canada. The program was delivered on the reserve as opposed to BCIT's Burnaby campus, where it's typically taught as a twelve-week program in the Part-time studies department.

Now equipped with expert knowledge, the Skeetchestn students will soon provide accurate assessments of housing conditions in the community, ultimately making a safer place to live. This program could provide a model for future training opportunities on other reserves across the country. Cascadia VP, Mike Battistel, is grateful to have had the opportunity to play his part in program.

"It was a pleasure developing the learning resources for the Building Envelope Technology portion of this unique training program.  The Skeetchestn students were a very receptive group, which made teaching it very rewarding for me.  I believe this program would work very well for other similar Bands."
